Marikate Taylor | Director of Communications

Marikate joined Compass in March 2021 and brings nearly a decade of experience in nonprofit communications, design, and development to her role. Marikate is responsible for managing the program marketing strategy and supporting initiatives to share Compass’ story and mission. She is passionate about high-impact solutions that create more equitable communities. Most recently, Marikate was the Director of Foundation Relations at Back on My Feet, where she raised funds to help individuals experiencing homelessness access essential employment and housing resources in Boston and Philadelphia. Marikate also served as the Development & Communications Officer for Strong Women, Strong Girls, working to ensure girls across Boston could access supportive mentoring relationships. Her experience also includes several years with Benefits Data Trust, helping individuals access public benefits through data driven solutions, and the Epilepsy Foundation Eastern PA, bringing resources to individuals impacted by seizure disorders.

Marikate earned her M.A. in History and Gender from Villanova University and her B.A. in History from Clemson University. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and dogs, digging through flea markets, kayaking, and cooking.
